Job Description

We are seeking a reliable, detail‑oriented Grants & Finance Associate to support the day-to-day financial and grants operations of the Foundation. This hourly, non-exempt position focuses on grant and scholarship administration, accurate processing, recordkeeping, and administrative support across accounting and fundholder activities.

This role is well‑suited for someone who enjoys working with financial data, thrives in a fast‑paced, high‑change environment, and wants to contribute to a mission‑driven organization through dependable operational and administrative support, including regular interaction with internal staff and people outside the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the administration of grants and scholarships, including: Entering and updating grant and scholarship data, tracking payments, and supporting routine reporting requirements
  • Monitor and process grant documentation.
  • Perform routine accounting support functions, including data entry and maintenance of financial records.
  • Track and record operating expenses in accordance with established procedures.
  • Assist with reconciliations of deposit accounts and investment accounts.
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain complete and well‑organized financial documentation, including invoices, receipts, and supporting records.
  • Prepare and distribute routine fund statements to fundholders.
  • Respond to basic internal or fundholder inquiries by providing requested financial information or documentation.
  • Assist with preparation of schedules, reports, and documentation for the annual audit.
  • Support information requests from auditors and internal staff.
  • Provide administrative support as needed.
  • Assist with special projects and general finance‑related tasks as needed to support the overall goals of the Foundation.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Preferred experience supporting grant or scholarship programs, including data entry, payment tracking, and recordkeeping.
  • At least one year of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or finance.
  • Working knowledge of basic accounting concepts such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, expense tracking, and reconciliations.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Comfort working with databases and financial systems; ability to learn customized systems.
  • Ability to handle sensitive financial information with discretion.

Experience in a nonprofit or foundation environment is helpful but not required. A successful candidate will enjoy working on a small team, and capable of navigating complex, shifting priorities. A commitment to OJCF’s mission and values is essential. Knowledge of Jewish practices or experience within the Jewish community is welcomed but not required.

Compensation and Benefits

This is an hourly, non‑exempt position paying $25.00–$28.00 per hour, depending on experience. The position is full‑time, 40 hours per week, with the possibility of hybrid work. Some evening or weekend work may be required. Benefits currently include Health, Dental, Vision, PTO, and a retirement plan.
