JOB DESCRIPTION: Full Time – Grants Manager

SUPERVISOR: Executive Director

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt, At-Will Position

HOURS: 40+ hours per week

*flexible; some weeks may require additional hours tied to grant deadlines

Position Summary

The Grants Manager will work closely with the Executive Director and leadership team to advance funding strategy through the identification, development, submission, and management of grants and other funding opportunities. This position is responsible for leading the full grant lifecycle, including prospect research, proposal development, grant compliance, reporting, and stewardship of awarded funds.

The Grants Manager will play a critical role in securing financial resources that enhance services for youth experiencing homelessness, abuse, neglect, abandonment, and housing instability while supporting the overall mission and strategic goals of the organization.

This role requires exceptional writing and communication skills, strong organizational and project management abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external stakeholders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Grant Research, Strategy, and Development

  • Stay informed on grant opportunities, funding trends, and philanthropic priorities related to youth homelessness, housing stabilization, prevention, mental health, supportive services, and nonprofit programming
  • Research and identify funding opportunities from foundations, corporations, government agencies, and community partners that align with organizational priorities and program needs
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director, Deputy Director, finance staff, and program leadership to develop and implement strategic grant funding plans
  • Develop, write, edit, and submit high-quality grant proposals, letters of intent (LOIs), applications, budgets, narratives, and support documentation tailored to funder requirements
  • Coordinate the collection of program data, outcomes, success stories, and financial information needed to support compelling grant applications
  • Maintain strong relationships with funders, community partners, and stakeholders through professional communication and stewardship efforts
  • Assist leadership in identifying opportunities for sustainable funding and long-term donor engagement

Grant Management, Compliance, and Reporting

  • Manage the complete grant lifecycle from application through closeout
  • Maintain and regularly update a comprehensive grants calendar, prospect pipeline, and reporting schedule
  • Track grant deadlines, submission requirements, award statuses, and reporting obligations to ensure timely completion
  • Monitor awarded grants to ensure compliance with funder guidelines, budget restrictions, deliverables, and organizational commitments
  • Prepare and submit interim, annual, and final grant reports in collaboration with leadership, finance, and program staff
  • Track program outputs, outcomes, and performance measures tied to grant-funded initiatives
  • Monitor grant expenditures and collaborate with finance staff to ensure appropriate allocation and documentation of grant funds
  • Track staff allocations and percentages charged to grants to ensure compliance and prevent funding overlap
  • Maintain organized grant records, files, and documentation systems for auditing and reporting purposes
  • Support preparation for audits, monitoring visits, and funder reviews as needed
  • Ensure all grant activities align with organizational policies, funder requirements, and applicable regulations

Supplemental Job Duties:

· Attend staff meetings, retreats and professional training sessions as requested

· Participate in Leadership and Development Team Meetings

· Complete a minimum of 16 hours of training annually

· Other duties as assigned

Schedule:

The schedule is flexible to meet the needs of the organization, which will require hours on-site collaborating with staff as well as the opportunity to work remote hours. Some weeks may exceed normal 40 hours during peak grant submission or reporting periods.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, or related field preferred

· Minimum of 3 years of nonprofit grant writing or grants management experience

· Demonstrated success securing grants from foundations, government agencies, and/or other funders

· Strong research, writing, and organizational skills

· Ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects independently with minimal supervision

· Demonstrated success in building and maintaining grantor/funder relationships

· Experience with grant databases, CRM systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and funder portals

· Comfort working with budgets, outputs, and outcome reporting with the ability to analyze data and synthesize complex information

· Experience supporting executive-level projects or organizational operations

Requirements Prior to Employment:

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Satisfactory reference checks
  • Pass background checks (SLED, Fingerprint, DSS Central Registry, and both SC and National Sex Offender Registry)

o If lived outside of South Carolina in the past 5 years, must also pass DSS Central Registry check from the state previously lived 

  • Complete and pass a drug screen and Physical 
  • CPR and First Aid certification 
  • Must be 21 years of age or older 
  • Completion of New Hire trainings, including Trauma-Informed Care training, within first month of employment

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $42,000.00 - $48,000.00 per year
