Primary Purpose:
Highly creative graphic designer and visual storyteller who can effectively translate conceptual ideas into dynamic representations, both in print and electronic media that amplifies the diverse work of the Harris County Department of Education across multiple channels for all stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s degree in graphic arts and/or design with emphasis on marketing, advertising, or public relations is preferred or equivalent work experience in the area of creative/graphic design.
Special Knowledge/Skills:

Fluency in Adobe Creative platforms, including InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.

Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including PowerPoint.

Must be highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects at the same time and meet deadlines.

Ability to work efficiently and effectively both independently and with multi-department teams.

Capable of turning projects quickly.

Must have a willingness to receive creative feedback.

Possess a desire to serve others.

Proficient with PC and Mac platforms.
Experience:
-
Two years experience in desktop publishing and creative/graphic design. Motion graphic design is a plus.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
-
Create engaging visual collateral ranging from promotional materials to annual reports for a diverse group of audiences.

Follow established brand standards.

Ensure designs translate across all platforms.

Format and pre-flight materials for printing and coordinate production with outside print shops.

Work with members of the Executive Team and other members of the Department to develop various forms of electronic presentations as necessary, including but not limited to PowerPoint presentations.

Possess a positive, “can do/can happen” attitude in a service-oriented environment.

Represent the division and the Department in a positive and professional manner.
