Description of Work

This role involves collaborating with a graphic design team to implement designs across multiple platforms, including but not limited to offset printing, wide-format printing, social and digital media. The primary goal is to promote the state's agriculture through graphic design by creating printed materials, specialty publications, reports, logos, visual displays, and more, for the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Agricultural Statistics Service (USDA NASS).

Candidates should be proficient with current industry-standard graphic design software to create vector graphics, social media graphics, charts and graphs, and other design elements. Designs will be developed based on both oral and written specifications.

Work will be performed under general supervision and evaluated based on quality, accuracy, and client satisfaction. Employees may also be required to perform additional duties as needed.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

  • A thorough knowledge of graphic design principles and significant experience with offset printing operations.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud graphic design software to specifically include proficiency in – Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Photoshop.
  • Ability to consult with and offer support to clients/customer as it relates to the area of work.
  • Physical stamina to lift, stand, and bend, with the ability to handle light physical strain.
  • Prefer the ability to work with wide format knowledge of a Windows PC environment, working within a local area network (LAN), and Microsoft Office.

Associate’s degree in visual/graphic design, commercial art or related area of assignment from an appropriately accredited institution: or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of experience in visual/graphic design, commercial art, or related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
