Within these walls, goodbyes are met with understanding, kindness, and unwavering care. Yavapai Humane Society is hiring for a special role of Serenity House Specialist.

The Serenity House Specialist is responsible for compassionately coordinating, scheduling and providing euthanasia services while providing exceptional support to clients during emotionally difficult situations. This role serves as a primary point of contact for families, YHS Medical Service Team , and internal teams to ensure euthanasia appointments are handled professionally, efficiently, and with empathy. Grief Counseling experience highly desired.

The position also requires veterinary technician experience to assist with patient preparation, catheter placement, restraint support, and assistance during euthanasia procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES :

· Manage the scheduling of clients requesting euthanasia services for their pets.

· Provide personalized concierge type service (from initial contact to final arrangements) with clients requesting euthanasia services.

· Communicate and work with Medical Services Team regarding euthanasia scheduling and service requests.

· Must be able to input client data accurately and efficiently into PetPoint. All notes, selected service options, and pertinent transactional information (including all forms of communication, billing, and follow-up tasks) will need to be documented within PetPoint.

· Assist and/or perform euthanasia procedures.

· Prepare Serenity Room and Medical Room with supplies for appointments.

· Assist with intravenous catheters and assist with patient.

· Monitor patient comfort.

· Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of entire Serenity House and outside grounds.

· Assist with proper handling and transport of remains in accordance with YHS procedures.

· Maintain accurate medical and procedural records.

· Track inventory of Serenity House-related operational and medical supplies, and notify management of replenishment needs.

· Follow all workplace safety protocols and veterinary standards.

· Assist YHS staff in various tasks including, but not limited to, post-adoption phone calls, phone calls to donors, and miscellaneous administrative tasks.

· Must be able to work independently as well as a member of a team.

· Be trustworthy to view and discreetly manage confidential organizational information.

· Well-organized and able to efficiently manage the key aspects of the position.

· Must have outstanding writing, editing, and proofreading skills and be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

· Regular and punctual attendance is required, as well as reliable transportation.

· Other duties as assigned by the Deput Director – Animal Care Services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two years Veterinary Technician experience required.
  • Experience with catheter placement and animal handling required.
  • Prior experience assisting with euthanasia procedures strongly preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, compassionate, and professional in emotionally sensitive situations.
  • Excellent organizational and scheduling skills.
  • Proficient in computer systems, scheduling software, and medical record documentation.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

High school diploma or G.E.D. certificate; also, relevant college, certifications, and/or experience with minimum one year’s experience in the field of adult counseling. Education may be substituted. The specialist must be able to read and write English and possess excellent customer service skills. Previous experience with public contact and interacting with irate citizens under stressful conditions is highly desirable. Must have excellent phone and people skills. Must have the ability to handle animals humanely and safely. Should be able to establish and maintain effective and productive working relationships with the public and other Yavapai Humane Society (YHS) employees.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift and restrain animals of various sizes safely.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the workday.
  • Ability to work in emotionally challenging environments.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient for catheter placement and veterinary assistance tasks.

THIS IS A SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION REQUIRING DRUG TESTING AND BACKGROUND CHECK.

Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
