Mustard & Linen is launching a boutique café where character, bold flavor, and our signature design language come together in one immersive experience.

The Head Barista leads the social boutique café operations and ensures premium-quality beverages and food items are served consistently and professionally. This role oversees the barista team, upholds company standards, maintains a warm and welcoming guest environment, and ensures the efficient, hygienic, and smooth daily operation of the café.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Quality Oversight:

  • Lead, mentor, train, and motivate the barista team to deliver exceptional service and beverage quality.
  • Ensure consistency, taste, quality, and presentation of all coffee and café menu items.
  • Develop innovative coffee recipes, seasonal drinks, and new menu items based on trends and customer preferences.
  • Oversee daily café workflow, ensuring efficiency, speed, and smooth operations.
  • Conduct quality checks on machines and ensure all equipment is functioning efficiently.
  • Uphold hygiene and food safety standards in accordance with Abu Dhabi Municipality regulations and Mustard & Linen guidelines.
  • Collaborate with management on promotions, café initiatives, and customer engagement activities.
  • Gather and analyze customer feedback to improve service and offerings.

Coffee & Café Operations (Hands-On Duties):

  • Prepare and serve a full range of specialty coffee beverages and light food items (sandwiches, snacks, baked goods).
  • Maintain expert knowledge of coffee blends, origins, and brewing methods.
  • Deliver warm, friendly, and personalized service to guests with strong product knowledge.
  • Ensure bar area, back bar, machines, and tools are clean, sanitized, and fully stocked.
  • Perform accurate cash handling, register operations, and payment processing.
  • Implement inventory control, monitor stock levels, and place supply orders to avoid shortages and reduce waste.
  • Maintain Grab & Go, dessert displays, and café counters according to company standards.
  • Foster a positive, uplifting atmosphere for guests and team members.

Customer Service & Handling Complaints:

  • Ensure every customer leaves satisfied, with expectations met or exceeded.
  • Address complaints promptly, professionally, and effectively.
  • Provide guidance to baristas on guest engagement and conflict resolution.

Bar Setup, Service & Hygiene:

  • Ensure the bar and dining area follow Social Boutique Bar-Café layout, cleanliness, and hygiene standards.
  • Check machines during opening and ensure proper function throughout operations.
  • Clean bar surfaces, equipment, utensils, and crockery continuously throughout the shift.
  • Prepare beverages according to brand recipes and standards.
  • Ensure accurate stock counting, FEFO rotation, and proper storage procedures.
  • Maintain strict cleanliness, grooming, and uniform compliance.
  • Maintain a high-energy, positive attitude to create an inviting environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of barista experience, including 1–2 years in a supervisory or Head Barista role.
  • Barista skills, including expertise in coffee preparation and mastery of brewing methods
  • Customer-focused abilities, such as excellent Customer Service and strong Communication skills
  • Interpersonal Skills to lead and effectively collaborate with team members
  • Basic Food Preparation knowledge and understanding of hygiene standards
  • Proven ability to manage and train a team in a high-paced environment
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain operations efficiently
  • Prior experience as a barista or in food and beverage management is highly preferred

Other Requirements

Job Type: Full-time
