Head Barista - Ridge Coffee House

Ridge Coffee House is looking for an experienced and passionate Head Barista to lead our coffee program and ensure exceptional beverage quality from day one. This role requires someone skilled, confident, and capable of training and guiding the barista team.

Role Overview

The Head Barista will be responsible for crafting high-quality beverages, overseeing bar operations, training baristas, maintaining equipment, and upholding coffee standards. This position is both hands-on and supervisory.

Key Responsibilities

Coffee Quality & Beverage Preparation

• Prepare all coffee and specialty beverages to consistent standards
• Calibrate espresso grinders daily
• Maintain quality control across all drinks
• Develop seasonal beverages

Bar Operations

• Oversee bar workflow and ensure efficient service
• Manage daily bar setup, cleanliness, and closing procedures
• Track beans, milk, and bar consumables
• Ensure adherence to hygiene and safety standards

Training & Team Leadership

• Train new baristas on recipes, equipment, and techniques
• Conduct skill assessments and continuous improvement sessions
• Lead by example during service and rush hours
• Support the Branch Manager with schedule input for bar staff

Equipment Maintenance

• Perform daily/weekly cleaning and backflushing
• Coordinate repairs with suppliers or technicians
• Ensure grinders, espresso machine, and brewers are always in optimal condition

Inventory & Reporting

• Monitor coffee bean usage and inventory levels
• Assist in placing orders for beans, milk, and bar supplies
• Record wastage and recommend improvements to reduce losses

Requirements

• 2–4 years of barista experience, including leadership or senior barista level
• Strong knowledge of espresso extraction, milk texturing, and brew methods
• Experience with specialty coffee preferred
• Ability to troubleshoot and adjust recipes/grinders
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work under pressure and during peak hours
• Passionate about coffee, service, and continuous learning
