About the Role
Job Purpose:
The Head of Commercial Strategy & Projects is responsible for leading the commercial growth, strategic direction, business development roadmap, and commercial performance of all logistics verticals — including Freight Forwarding, Contract Logistics, Logistics Parks, and specialized sectors such as Chemicals & Minerals.
The role ensures commercial alignment, develops revenue strategies, drives pricing governance, builds long-term customer pipelines, and oversees major growth projects that support the company’s expansion and profitability.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Commercial Strategy & Planning

Develop and execute the company's integrated commercial strategy across all logistics business units.

Identify new market opportunities, emerging sectors, and potential revenue streams.

Build 3–5 year commercial growth plans, including market penetration and expansion strategies.

Ensure all commercial teams’ goals align with the company’s strategic vision.
2. Business Development Leadership

Lead BD teams across multiple sectors (Freight Forwarding, Contract Logistics, Logistics Park, Chemicals & Minerals).

Oversee development of key accounts, customer segmentation strategies, and Local/international BD pipelines
-
Drive cross-selling opportunities between different logistics verticals.
3. Commercial Project Management
-
Lead strategic projects such as new facility launches, logistics park development, regional expansions, or product diversification.

Oversee project feasibility, budgeting, stakeholder alignment, execution, and ROI tracking.

Ensure commercial readiness for major operational projects.
4. Pricing, Procurement & Profitability
-
Supervise pricing strategy, commercial governance, and margin management.

Approve major customer proposals, rate structures, tenders, and key contracts.

Work closely with Procurement to optimize supplier partnerships and cost structures.
5. Sales Enablement & Performance Management
-
Establish commercial KPIs, dashboards, and performance management systems.

Coach, mentor, and support all Commercial Leads and BD Leads in achieving sales targets.

Ensure consistency in customer experience, proposals, contracts, and negotiation standards.
6. Customer, Market & Competitor Intelligence
-
Monitor market trends, competitor moves, and industry dynamics.

Guide the company’s competitive positioning in pricing, service offerings, and customer solutions.

Develop value propositions for new and existing logistics services.
7. Internal Collaboration & Cross-Functional Alignment

Work closely with Operations, Finance, Supply Chain, and HR to ensure commercial strategies are executable and well-supported.

Lead commercial participation in budget planning, forecasting, and annual business planning cycles.
8. Leadership & Stakeholder Management
-
Lead a multi-level commercial organization with Middle Management and Senior talent.

Foster a culture of performance, accountability, collaboration, and innovation.

Present commercial strategy, forecasts, and project progress to executive leadership.
Qualification and Certificates:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field.
Experience and Knowledge:

15+ years of experience in commercial leadership roles within logistics, shipping, or supply chain.

Demonstrated experience managing multi-sector commercial teams.

Strong track record in strategic planning, sales leadership, project management, and contract negotiation.

Deep understanding of logistics market trends, pricing models, and customer solutions.

Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and deliver large-scale commercial projects.
