Role Objective
The Head of Aircraft Asset Management & Maintenance is accountable for maximizing the value, availability, safety, and lifecycle performance of the airline’s aircraft and engines, while optimizing maintenance cost, asset utilization, and long-term capital exposure. Leads, develops the team, and responsible for the strategic and operational management of Oman Air’s aircraft assets, with a strong focus on engines and major components.
Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership

Provide overall strategic direction for fleet management, technical asset management, and line maintenance teams.

Develop and implement asset management strategies aligned with company objectives and industry best practices.

Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, continuous improvement, and safety.
Technical & Engine Asset Management
-
Lead and oversee engine asset management, including engine health monitoring, shop visit planning, and lifecycle cost optimization.

Manage engine leasing, power-by-the-hour agreements, and OEM/vendor negotiations.

Oversee engine condition monitoring programs and implement predictive maintenance strategies.

Ensure compliance with all airworthiness directives and service agreements related to engines and major components.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of aircraft major component specifications and maintenance schedules.
Digitalization & Data-Driven Asset Management

Lead the adoption of digital tools and data analytics in asset management
(e.g., Aircraft Health Monitoring Systems, predictive maintenance, digital records).

Utilize maintenance management systems such as AMOS for planning, tracking, and optimizing asset performance.
Regulatory & Safety Compliance
-
Ensure all maintenance and asset management activities comply with Oman CAA, and other applicable regulatory requirements.

Oversee the implementation of Safety Management Systems and quality assurance processes.
Financial & Contract Management
-
Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and cost-saving initiatives for asset management and maintenance.

Lead negotiations for contracts and procurement of technical assets, including engines, components, and maintenance services.

Conduct spend analysis and market intelligence to optimize supplier relationships and total cost of ownership.
Team Development & Stakeholder Engagement

Coach, mentor, and develop technical and leadership competencies within the team.

Promote cross-functional collaboration with engineering, operations, and finance.
Sustainability & Innovation

Identify and implement innovative solutions to enhance asset value and operational reliability.
Other Duties

Education & Experience
-
Bachelor’s degree in a business or engineering discipline (accounting, finance, economics, aeronautical, or mechanical engineering) – mandatory.

Post-graduate degree or professional accreditation (e.g., CIPS, MBA, or equivalent) – preferred.

Minimum 10 years’ managerial experience in procurement/supply chain management within aviation (mandatory).

Post-graduate degree / accreditation such as Certification in Purchasing Supply from Chartered Institutes of Purchasing & Supply (UK) or equivalent (preferable).

Aircraft Maintenance Knowledge and experience is mandatory.
