Role Objective

Oman Air is seeking a senior Technical Advisor to provide expert advisory support across airline engineering, airworthiness, and maintenance strategy. This role is suited to a highly experienced aviation professional who brings deep technical judgement and the ability to advise executive leadership on complex engineering and regulatory matters.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide senior technical advisory input on airworthiness, CAMO governance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Advise on engineering and maintenance strategy, including fleet maintenance planning, reliability improvement, and optimisation initiatives.
  • Support evaluation of MRO, engine, and component contracts, including PBH and time-and-material arrangements.
  • Provide technical insight on fleet induction, aircraft transitions, lease returns, and records readiness.
  • Support regulatory reviews, audits, and technical recovery or transformation initiatives.
  • Contribute to technical capability development through mentoring and knowledge transfer.



Education & Experience

  • Degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Formal aviation technical training: professional aviation certifications are advantageous.
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in airline engineering, airworthiness, CAMO, or MRO environments.
  • Senior-level exposure to:

o Continuing airworthiness and regulatory frameworks.

o Engineering governance and maintenance planning.

o Fleet reliability, safety management, and technical risk.

o Engagement with aviation authorities, OEMs, lessors, and MRO providers.

  • Experience across complex airline or multi-fleet operations is essential.
  • Exposure to multiple regulatory regimes (e.g. EASA, GCAA, ICAO) is highly desirable.


Special Skills& Knowledge

  • Strong technical judgement with the ability to challenge constructively.
  • Deep understanding of airline maintenance economics and operational trade-offs.
  • High credibility with regulators and senior airline leadership.
  • Ability to translate complex technical issues into clear executive-level advice.
  • Senior advisory / expert role (non-operational).
  • Engagement may be on a fixed-term, project, or retainer basis.
  • Scope may evolve in line with Oman Air’s operational and transformation priorities.
