The Head of Delivery is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of all projects, programs, and client engagements across the organization. This role ensures operational excellence, drives continuous improvement, and guarantees that all deliverables meet quality, time, and budget expectations. The Head of Delivery acts as a strategic partner to the executive team, aligning delivery initiatives with the company’s long-term goals.
Key Responsibilities
1. Delivery Leadership & Strategy
Develop and execute a unified delivery strategy across all business units.
Ensure alignment between delivery teams, sales, operations, and product departments.
Establish best-in-class methodologies, frameworks, and standards for project execution.
Drive a culture of accountability, ownership, and performance.
2. Project & Program Governance
Oversee end-to-end project lifecycle: initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.
Implement strong governance and reporting structures to ensure visibility of project health.
Manage risk assessments, mitigation plans, and issue resolution across all projects.
3. Team Management & Development
Lead and mentor delivery managers, project managers, and cross-functional delivery teams.
Build high-performing teams through coaching, development plans, and recruitment.
Foster collaboration, clear communication, and a results-driven team environment.
4. Client & Stakeholder Management
Serve as the escalation point for key clients, ensuring satisfaction and successful outcomes.
Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Provide regular updates to executive leadership on delivery performance and strategic priorities.
5. Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
Monitor success metrics such as delivery timelines, profitability, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Identify process gaps and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
Drive adoption of project management tools, technologies, and automation where relevant.
6. Financial & Resource Management
Oversee budgeting, resource forecasting, and allocation across projects.
Ensure effective utilization of teams to maximize productivity and profitability.
Support revenue planning, cost control, and margin optimization.
Required Qualifications
Experience
10+ years of experience in project delivery, program management, or operations.
Proven leadership experience managing large-scale teams and complex, multi-department projects.
Experience in a large enterprise or fast-growing company (industry can be tailored).
Skills
Expert in project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid).
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.
Education
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred (Business, Engineering, Management, or related field).
Professional certifications are a plus (PMP, PgMP, Prince2, Scrum Master, Agile Coach).
