Position is based at the Ledger - 240 S Main Street, Bentonville, AR. Incumbent should reside within the Arvest 4 State Operational Footprint (AR, KS, MO, OK). Remote work options may be available for residents outside of the 4-state footprint upon further review during the interview process.

Head of Enterprise Data
Job Summary
The Head of Enterprise Data at Arvest is a strategic executive responsible for the entire data lifecycle, encompassing strategy, architecture, governance, engineering, quality, and activation. They ensure that data is reliable, cost-optimized, and positioned to create measurable business value. The Head of Enterprise Data defines and executes a multi-year modernization roadmap, leveraging cloud-first architecture, API-driven integrations, and emerging trends to drive platform efficiency, accelerate delivery, and ensure enterprise scale.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute a multi-year enterprise data strategy and modernization roadmap, establishing a unified data vision across all platforms (cloud, on-premises, core systems).
- Drive the simplification and automation of legacy data platforms, championing emerging trends such as AI-enabled data quality, LLM-based accessibility, and real-time streaming. Oversee the full data lifecycle, including ingestion, modeling, storage, governance, quality assurance, integration, privacy, cataloging, and consumption.
- Own and mature core enterprise data platforms (e.g., data lake/lakehouse, data warehouse, MDM, analytics tools, API gateways, streaming platforms) and implement enterprise-level reliability, scalability, and performance standards.
- Develop and enforce a vendor-aligned API library strategy, building reusable data integration and API assets to improve interoperability and accelerate delivery.
- Implement a comprehensive data platform cost governance model across compute, storage, API consumption, partnering with Technology Finance to drive cost-efficient architecture.
- Establish and continuously improve KPIs for platform performance, quality, reliability, and cost to ensure that platform operations are continually optimized.
- Lead enterprise-wide data governance, metadata management, lineage, privacy, and data stewardship programs.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements (e.g., FFIEC, OCC, GDPR/CCPA where applicable) and implement robust controls for data quality, retention, privacy and access.
- Build and lead a high-performing team of data architects, data engineers, platform engineers, data product managers, data stewards, and analysts, standardizing delivery practices and fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
- Supervise two or more associates. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Understand and comply with bank policy, laws, regulations, and the bank's BSA/AML Program, as applicable to job duties. This includes, but is not limited to, completing compliance training, adhering to internal procedures and controls, reporting any known violations of compliance policies, laws, or regulations, and reporting any suspicious customer and/or account activity.
- Other duties and special projects may be assigned.
Experience
- Required: 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in enterprise data, platform engineering, or large-scale digital transformation.
- Proven expertise in data architecture, data engineering, integration/API strategy, and modern data platforms (cloud and on-prem).
- Hands-on experience with API management, ETL/ELT frameworks, data modeling, streaming technologies, and enterprise integration patterns.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multi-year modernization programs with measurable business outcomes.
- Deep knowledge of regulatory and governance practices within data-intensive industries, ideally financial services.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Relevant work experience may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree requirement.
- Relevant military experience is considered for veterans and transitioning service members.
