Head of Finance Department

Role Overview – HOD Finance

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Prepare and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS, SECP, PSX, CDC, and NCCPL regulations
  • Manage general ledger, reconciliations, trial balance, and financial closing processes
  • Monitor brokerage revenues, capital adequacy, exposures, and operational expenses
  • Coordinate annual audits and liaise with external auditors

Treasury & Fund Management

  • Monitor daily bank balances, client fund segregation, and liquidity requirements
  • Supervise payment processing, settlements, and fund transfers
  • Ensure compliance with client asset protection regulations
  • Manage cash flow forecasting and treasury planning

Regulatory Compliance Support

  • Coordinate financial reporting submissions to regulators
  • Assist the compliance department in capital market reporting requirements
  • Monitor net capital balance positions and exposure thresholds
  • Maintain proper documentation for regulatory inspections and audits

Budgeting & Strategic Planning

  • Develop annual budgets and financial forecasts
  • Analyze profitability across trading, brokerage, and investment operations
  • Prepare management dashboards and financial MIS reports
  • Support senior management in strategic expansion and operational planning

Internal Controls & Risk Management

  • Implement strong financial controls and approval workflows
  • Identify operational and financial risks within brokerage activities
  • Improve accounting systems, SOPs, and reporting automation
  • Ensure confidentiality and integrity of financial information

Team Leadership

  • Lead and supervise finance and accounts staff
  • Coordinate with operations, compliance, IT, and dealing departments
  • Foster a culture of accuracy, discipline, and accountability

Must Have Traits/ Skills:

  • Strong financial reporting, accounting, and audit management expertise
  • Deep understanding of SECP, PSX, NCCPL, and CDC regulations
  • Experience in brokerage operations, treasury management, and client fund segregation
  • Excellent command over reconciliations, settlements, and liquidity monitoring
  • Advanced Excel, MIS reporting, financial analysis, and process automation skills
  • Strong internal controls, risk management, and compliance awareness
  • Ability to manage regulatory reporting and external/internal audits efficiently
  • Strategic financial planning, budgeting, and operational cost management capabilities
  • Strong leadership, team management, and cross-department coordination skills
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced capital markets environment
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and decision-making skills
  • High integrity, professionalism, confidentiality, and an ownership mindset
  • Experience working in brokerage houses, banks, financial institutions, or capital market environments is preferred

Qualification preference: CA/ ACCA/ ICMA/ CFA (level 1 at least, Level 2 preferred.
