Job Description:

Domnic Lewis has been mandate to hire for Head of Legal :

Location: Mumbai

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Legal Leadership

  • Formulate and execute comprehensive legal strategies aligned with business and regulatory objectives.

  • Advise the Board and senior management on legal implications of business decisions, ensuring compliance with all statutory and regulatory frameworks.

Patent & Intellectual Property Management

  • Spearhead the company//'s patent protection and enforcement strategy, proactively safeguarding IP assets and minimizing litigation risks.

  • Lead actions against infringements including cease-and-desist communications, negotiations, and litigation, maintaining a 100% success rate in patent defenses.

  • Manage patent databases, litigation history, and defense strategies, ensuring timely updates and collaboration with external counsel.

Risk Management & Governance

  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential exposure areas such as counterfeits, illegal imports, and patient assistance programs.

  • Provide quarterly legal and risk reports to the Board, leveraging insights to inform strategic decision-making.

  • Establish and chair an Institutional Business Committee to address critical issues, resolve disputes, and strengthen compliance governance.

Contracting & Commercial Legal Support

  • Develop and implement standardized templates and terms for Master Service Agreements, Statements of Work, and third-party contracts, ensuring alignment with local laws and internal policies.

  • Create a centralized contract management process to enhance efficiency, transparency, and compliance across business functions.

Legal Process Optimization

  • Design, develop, and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for legal notices, debt recovery, summons handling, and risk mitigation frameworks.

  • Drive continuous improvement in legal processes and governance through digitization, automation, and audit readiness.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • LLB / LLM with 12–18 years of progressive experience in corporate legal, intellectual property, and compliance roles.

  • Proven experience in leading patent litigation and IP protection in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry (preferred).

  • Strong understanding of contract law, risk management, and regulatory compliance in a multinational environment.

  • Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, and leadership skills.
