Head of Oil and Gas Operations

The Head of Oil and Gas Operations leads and oversees all operational activities across upstream, midstream, and/or downstream functions to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable performance. This role is responsible for operational strategy, production efficiency, HSE compliance, asset reliability, budget control, and coordination across technical and commercial teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily and long-term oil and gas operations to ensure continuity, safety, and efficiency.
• Set and monitor production targets, operational KPIs, and performance standards.
• Develop and implement strategies to improve productivity, profitability, and process efficiency.
• Manage budgets, forecasting, cost control, and resource allocation.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, Qatari regulations, HSE standards, and industry best practices.
• Direct risk assessments, incident management, emergency response planning, and corrective actions.
• Lead, coach, and develop operations teams, contractors, and third-party service providers.
• Coordinate with engineering, maintenance, projects, logistics, commercial, and support teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering, mechanical engineering, process engineering, operations management, or a related field.
• 10+ years of oil and gas experience, including senior leadership responsibility.
• Strong knowledge of oil and gas operations, HSE systems, asset integrity, and regulatory compliance.
• Proven ability to manage teams, contractors, budgets, and multi-site operations.
• Excellent decision-making, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Qatar or GCC experience is often preferred.

Preferred qualifications

• Master’s degree or MBA.
• Experience in upstream production, terminal operations, refinery operations, or integrated energy operations.
• Familiarity with emergency preparedness, incident investigation, and operational risk management.
• Professional certifications in HSE, project management, or operations leadership

Pay: QAR55.00 - QAR75.00 per hour
