Head of procurement/ Purchase Manager

Manama, Bahrain

position Summary:

The Head of Procurement will be responsible for leading and managing sourcing, supplier negotiations, and purchasing strategies across multiple retail formats. This role focuses on securing the best trading terms, optimizing costs, ensuring continuous supply of goods, and supporting business growth through effective vendor and inventory management.

Key Responsibilities:

•Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with business objectives.

•Negotiate supplier contracts, purchase agreements, and trading terms to maximize cost savings and profitability.

•Source, evaluate, and manage local and international suppliers to ensure quality, pricing, and timely delivery.

•Consolidate purchase requirements and manage bulk deals to achieve economies of scale.

•Monitor inventory levels, control replenishment, and minimize aging stock for efficient cash flow.

Collaborate with •merchandising, finance, and operations teams to align procurement with sales and margin goals.

•Ensure supplier compliance with company standards, quality, and ethical practices.

Drive process improvements, implement best practices, and integrate new systems for procurement efficiency.

•Lead and mentor the procurement team, fostering a culture of performance and accountability.

Qualifications & Skills:

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field.

5+ years of experience in retail procurement, merchandising, and supplier negotiations.

Strong expertise in sourcing, vendor management, and cost optimization.

Skilled in contracts, Business Development Agreements (BDAs), and commercial margin improvement.

Proficient in retail systems and analytical tools.

Excellent negotiation, leadership, and communication skills.

Trained in vendor negotiation, category management, and quality management systems
