Job Summary
The Country QHSE Director is the key leader to drive and maintain the Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental culture within the region/country, ensuring operational QHSE delivery complies with governing companies, Swissport's global QHSE management systems, and industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Report directly to the Country CEO with a dotted line to Regional QHSE Director.
- Align with the global QHSE strategy and support local management in developing the country QHSE strategic roadmap, driving implementation of action plans and objectives.
- Coordinate and align QHSE activities of all business units across stations with the country, in line with the regional roadmap and Swissport standards.
- Train and develop the QHSE Manager and the management team.
- Ensure comprehensive implementation of Swissport's QHSE management system within the region, supporting the development and improvement of the Swissport Quality Health & Safety Management System.
- Lead by example, continually managing and coordinating QHSE improvement and compliance, fostering a Zero Incident and Zero Waste mindset.
- Build a sustainable QHSE commitment, awareness, knowledge, behaviors and engagement among country and station management and employees.
- Participate in regular meetings with GACA and Airport Authorities.
- Deliver regular QHSE performance reports to Country Management and to Regional Management when required.
- Provide guidance and develop local QHSE management across the country and stations.
- Ensure the QHSE team possesses high levels of qualification, skills and key competencies, and identify improvement areas to accelerate the Zero Incident and Zero Waste mindset.
- Plan, prepare and conduct internal safety audits, initiating and monitoring corrective actions based on audit findings and investigations.
- Initiate and/or carry out investigations on major or higher incidents/accidents.
- Oversee the operational risk register and legal surveillance, ensuring compliance with country and industry standards and laws.
- Promote experience sharing by exchanging resources and support.
- Assure participation in global expert groups.
- Assist the CEO in contacting airline representatives, civil aviation authorities and government officials on all QHSE matters.

Qualifications and Competencies
- University technical degree/professional qualification or equivalent in a related field.
- Industry certification such as Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, NBOSH diploma, or equivalent in safety management.
- 10 years of senior management experience across multiple aviation QHSE sites.
- Successful implementation of ISO/OHSAS/ISAGO; certified auditor.
- Knowledge of regional/country laws and industry regulations related to safety, health and environment.
- Proven track record in implementing QHSE systems and behavioral based safety programs.
- Operational and general compliance orientation.
- TTT certification and experience in risk assessments, accident/incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Willingness to travel within the country and region as required.
- Fluent in English; Arabic preferred; other languages advantageous.
