Job Purpose:
The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy machinery used in construction, industrial operations, and material handling. This includes excavators, bulldozers, loaders, forklifts, cranes, graders, and other heavy-duty equipment.
Key Responsibilities:

Perform routine maintenance and preventive servicing of heavy equipment to ensure optimal performance.

Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic system issues using diagnostic tools and technical manuals.

Conduct repairs on engines, transmissions, braking systems, fuel systems, and hydraulic components.

Inspect and test malfunctioning equipment to identify root causes and required repairs.

Maintain accurate documentation of repairs, parts used, and service performed.

Troubleshoot breakdowns and respond promptly to emergency repair requests.

Ensure all equipment is in compliance with safety standards and company requirements.

Install, adjust, and replace equipment parts such as gears, bearings, hoses, valves, motors, pumps, and filters.

Collaborate with operators to understand issues and perform corrective actions.

Keep work area clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety regulations.
Qualifications & Experience:

Diploma or Technical Certification in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or related field.

Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic in construction, industrial, or mining environments.

Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.

Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, manuals, and schematics.

Experience using diagnostic equipment and mechanical tools.

Good understanding of safety procedures and regulations.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
