Job Summary
The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for safely diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining construction vehicles and equipment, including electrical, hydraulic, brake, fuel, and HVAC systems. This role ensures equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and supporting safe and efficient job site operations.
Responsibilities
- Service, repair, and maintain a variety of construction equipment and vehicles including small engines, passenger vehicles, semi tractors and trailers, equipment trailers, dump trucks, excavators, backhoes, skid steers, loaders, and cranes.
- Weld, fabricate, and assemble/disassemble components as required.
- Perform and document preventive maintenance and safety inspections.
- Maintain accurate service records and ensure all work is completed safely and efficiently.
- Estimate labor hours and parts needed for repairing equipment.
- Travel to job sites to provide repairs or maintenance.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- 10 years’ experience in repairing / servicing heavy equipment
- Strong knowledge of diagnostics and repair of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
- Commitment to safety
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams and to operate electronic diagnostic tools
- Physical ability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform tasks requiring standing, lifting, bending, kneeling
- Strong attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot and problem solve
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred
- ASE Certification
- HVAC Certification
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
Pay: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour
