HMC Operator

Job Purpose

To set up, operate, and monitor Horizontal Machining Centers (HMC) to produce precision machined components as per drawings, process sheets, and quality standards, ensuring efficiency, safety, and adherence to production schedules.

Roles & Responsibilities

Machine Operation

• Operate and monitor HMC machines for machining steel castings and other components.
• Load/unload workpieces and ensure correct fixturing and clamping.
• Follow approved process sheets, CNC programs, and tooling instructions.

Quality & Inspection

• Perform in-process inspections using gauges, micrometers, vernier calipers, and CMM (if applicable).
• Ensure parts meet dimensional and surface finish requirements as per drawings.
• Identify, report, and correct machining errors or deviations.

Maintenance & Safety

• Perform daily machine checks (coolant, oil, air pressure, cleanliness).
• Replace and maintain cutting tools, inserts, and fixtures as required.
• Follow all safety protocols and wear required PPE during machine operation.

Documentation & Reporting

• Record production data, inspection results, and downtime in the prescribed formats.
• Escalate issues related to machine breakdowns, tooling, or quality to the supervisor.
• Maintain 5S in the machine area.

Desired Background

• ITI/Diploma in Mechanical/Production Engineering or equivalent.
• 2–5 years of experience operating HMC machines in a machine shop environment.
• Knowledge of CNC programming basics (Fanuc / Siemens controls preferred).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹26,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
