· Planning and administering medically prescribed physical therapy treatment of patients suffering from injuries or muscle, nerve, joint and bone diseases, to restore functions, relieve pain and prevent disability.

· Reviewing physician’s referral (prescription) and patient’s condition and medical records to determine physical therapy treatment required.

· Testing and measuring patient’s strength, motor development, sensory perception, functional capacity and respiratory and circulatory efficiency and record findings to develop or revise treatment programs.

· Planning and preparing written treatment programs based on evaluation of patient data.

· Administering manual exercises to improve and maintaining functions.

· Instructing, motivating, and assisting patients to perform various physical activities such as non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, and daily living activities.

· Administering treatments involving application of physical agents, using equipment, such as hydrotherapy tanks and whirlpool baths, moist packs, ultraviolet and infrared lamps, and ultrasound machines.

· Evaluating effects of treatment at various stages and adjust treatments to achieve maximum benefits.

· Directs the assistance of support staff to achieve patients’ functional goals.

· Enhances professional growth and development of self and others through participation in educational programs. In-service meetings and workshops. Keeps up to date professional literature.

· Administering massages, applying knowledge of massage techniques and body physiology.

· Conducts therapy practice within defined standard of care.

· Administering traction to relieve pain using traction equipment.

· Recording treatment, responses and progress in patient’s chart or enters information into computer. Instruct patients and family of the treatment procedures to be continued at home.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $45.00 - $50.00 per hour

Education:

  • Associate (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • CPR Certification (Required)
  • Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant (Required)

Ability to Relocate:

  • Pasadena, TX: Relocate before starting work (Required)
