Horticulture - Nursery Assistant

Overview
Rathjen's Landscape Supply is a new and rapidly expanding wholesale and retail nursery and supply yard, seeking an experienced sales person to sell trees, shrubs & perennials to landscapers and homeowners. Applicants must have verifiable experience selling plant material, a good working knowledge of horticulture and best landscape practice.

Duties

• Assist with planting, watering, pruning, and transplanting a variety of nursery stock and landscape plants.
• Support irrigation systems setup, monitoring, and maintenance to ensure optimal watering schedules.
• Help with greenhouse operations including seed starting, propagation, and climate control.
• Pricing new plants materials
• Checking out customers via a Point of Sale system
• Communicating with customers about current availability via phone and email
• Some Heavy machinery operation may be required, training is available.
• Regular maintenance of nursery stock - reporting and pulling plants in poor condition, monitoring loss of inventory
• Inventory management

Experience

• Prior experience in gardening, landscaping, or horticulture is preferred but not required; enthusiasm for learning is essential.
• Familiarity with irrigation systems and greenhouse operations is a plus.
• Knowledge of growing techniques, plant care routines, and landscape maintenance practices is advantageous.
• Ability to operate hand tools safely and effectively in outdoor environments.
• Strong interest in agriculture or farming practices demonstrates your commitment to sustainable horticulture.
• Excellent teamwork skills combined with a proactive attitude will help you thrive in this fast-paced role.

Pay: $22.00 - $30.00 per hour
