Position Summary: The primary function of the EMR and IT Specialist is to support the effective use, maintenance, and optimization of the EMR and technology systems throughout the organization. This role ensures accurate data management, smooth system functionality, and efficient technology operations that enable high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, and interdisciplinary communication across the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Information Systems, Healthcare Informatics, or Computer Science preferred with 2+ years of experience in healthcare IT or EMR support
  • Strong communication and training abilities with both clinical and non-clinical staff
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Detail-oriented, organized and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Comfortable customizing the software content and addressing the needs of the end-user
  • Collaborative and service minded approach to supporting hospice operations
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and data privacy standards
  • Positivity, high energy and pride in your work
  • Proactive approach, strong work ethic, and excellent coachability
  • Experience with MatrixCare preferred

Job Duties:
  • Manage day-to-day operations of EMR system, including user setup, permissions, troubleshooting, and workflow optimization
  • Serve as the primary contact for EMR-related issues and coordinate with the software vendor to resolve system problems
  • Identify and lead projects to increase efficiency and effectiveness of EMR system
  • Train new and existing staff on EMR best practices, documentation standards, and system updates
  • Develop and maintain EMR reports to improve efficiency and data accuracy
  • Ensure EMR usage complies with HIPAA requirements
  • Track technology and EMR-related tickets and maintain active log
  • Set-up new equipment (phones, iPads, laptops, printers) for new hires and provide training on staff hardware at orientation and ongoing
  • Provide technical support for staff hardware, software, and connectivity issues
  • Coordinate with IT contractor (Cassia) on system maintenance and advancement, cybersecurity, and network performance
  • Lead projects related to Microsoft 365 applications agency-wide
  • Manage phone system and ensure accessibility for callers 24/7
  • Maintain and track IT equipment and ordering of new/replacement equipment
  • Anticipate and report the cost of replacing or updating technology devices with support from IT contractor
  • Collaborate with leadership to identify and implement technology driven process improvements
  • Administrator of contracted accounts, including, but not limited to, DocuSign, EPIC, Zoom.
  • Other duties as assigned
