Hospital Pharmacist

Key Responsibilities

• Medication Dispensing & Verification
• Accurately prepare and dispense prescription medications.
• Verify dosages, check for drug interactions, and ensure proper labeling.
• Maintain detailed prescription records in compliance with regulations.
• Patient Consultation & Education
• Counsel patients on correct medication use, possible side effects, and storage instructions.
• Advise on over-the-counter (OTC) medications, supplements, and general health concerns.
• Provide information on lifestyle modifications and disease prevention.
• Collaboration with Healthcare Providers
• Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize treatment plans.
• Suggest alternative medications or therapies when appropriate.
• Regulatory Compliance
• Ensure adherence to national, state, and local pharmacy laws.
• Safeguard controlled substances and maintain accurate inventory logs.
• Follow professional and ethical standards set by pharmacy boards.
• Clinical & Administrative Duties
• Manage inventory, order pharmaceuticals, and monitor stock levels.
• Participate in medication therapy management (MTM) programs.
• Keep current with emerging medical and pharmaceutical knowledge.

Skills & Qualifications

• Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited institution.
• Licensure: State pharmacy license in good standing.
• Skills:
• Strong knowledge of pharmacology and drug interactions.
• Excellent communication and counseling abilities.
• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
• Problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
• Proficiency with pharmacy software and health information systems.

Work Environment

• Retail pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, research institutions, or pharmaceutical companies.
• May require weekend, evening, or holiday shifts depending on the setting.
• Standing for extended periods and frequent patient interaction.

Experience Required: Minimum 2yrs experince required.
