Job Description – Pharmacist
Position Title: Pharmacist
Department: Pharmacy
Location: Malar Hospital, Hosur
Reports To: Pharmacy In-Charge
Job Purpose:
To ensure safe and effective dispensing of medications to inpatients and outpatients, maintain accurate records, and comply with all regulatory and hospital policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Dispense prescription and non-prescription medications accurately and promptly.
- Review prescriptions for accuracy, appropriate dosage, and possible interactions.
- Provide correct guidance to patients on medication usage, dosage, side effects, and storage.
- Maintain inventory levels, place orders, and track expiry dates to avoid stockouts or wastage.
- Label medications properly with all required information and ensure correct packaging.
- Comply with hospital protocols, pharmacy laws, and Drug Control Department regulations.
- Maintain detailed records of dispensed drugs, controlled substances, and narcotics.
- Coordinate with doctors and nurses to clarify prescriptions or medication needs.
- Ensure cleanliness, safety, and organization of the pharmacy space.
- Support audits and maintain necessary documentation for inspections and licensing.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- D.Pharm / B.Pharm (Registered with Tamil Nadu State Pharmacy Council)
- Minimum 1–3 years of experience in hospital pharmacy preferred
- Sound knowledge of medicines, prescriptions, and drug interactions
- Familiarity with inventory software and billing systems

Working Hours
- Rotational shifts / Based on hospital schedule
