Core Responsibilities

• Medication Management: Procuring, storing, dispensing, and monitoring all hospital medications, including manufacturing specialized preparations like IVs.
• Clinical Expertise: Reviewing prescriptions for appropriateness, checking for interactions, allergies, and monitoring patient response to therapy.
• Patient Counseling: Educating patients and families about medications, side effects, and adherence for both inpatient and discharge needs.
• Team Collaboration: Working closely with doctors, nurses, and other staff to make informed drug-related decisions and provide bedside care.

Specialized Roles

• Specialized Care: Supporting areas like oncology, pediatrics, critical care (ICU), and emergency medicine.
• Education & Training: Training pharmacy students, residents, and other staff on medication best practices.
• Research & Quality: Participating in clinical trials, quality assurance, formular management, and infection control.
