Position Summary
The 24-hour Hostel Warden is responsible for round-the-clock supervision, administration, discipline, safety, and well-being of hostel residents. This live-in position ensures smooth daily operations, enforces hostel rules, manages emergencies at any time, and maintains a safe and supportive residential environment.
Key Responsibilities1. Hostel Administration
- Supervise and manage day-to-day hostel operations with 24/7 availability.
- Maintain updated records of residents, room allocations, attendance, and occupancy.
- Oversee housekeeping staff to ensure continuous cleanliness and hygiene in rooms and common areas.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams for prompt repairs, utility management, and facility upkeep.
- Ensure uninterrupted availability and functioning of essential utilities (electricity, water, CCTV, Wi-Fi, and security systems).
2. Resident Welfare & Discipline
- Ensure the safety, well-being, comfort, and discipline of residents at all times.
- Enforce hostel rules, code of conduct, curfew timings, and visitor policies.
- Address complaints or disciplinary concerns promptly and maintain documentation.
- Conduct regular inspection rounds, including late-evening and night rounds.
- Provide guidance and counseling to residents on behavioral, academic, or personal issues.
3. Safety & Security
- Supervise hostel security staff and ensure 24/7 security coverage.
- Monitor entry/exit logs, visitor records, and ensure strict adherence to security protocols.
- Maintain emergency response plans and ensure residents are aware of safety procedures.
- Handle emergencies such as accidents, medical situations, conflicts, or security incidents at any hour.
- Report critical incidents immediately to administration and take necessary actions.
4. Coordination & Reporting
- Liaise with academic, administrative, finance, and support departments for hostel-related matters.
- Prepare daily and monthly reports on hostel operations, resident concerns, and maintenance needs.
- Support hostel admissions, fee management, documentation, and room allocation processes.
- Assist in organizing orientation sessions, hostel events, and community-building activities.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Management, Social Sciences, or a related field (preferred).
- 2–5 years of experience in hostel management, student affairs, or supervisory/residential roles.
- Ability to remain on-site and available 24/7, including nights, weekends, and emergencies.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-management skills.
- Proven ability to maintain discipline while fostering a supportive environment.
- Good organizational, record-keeping, and administrative abilities.
- Basic computer literacy (MS Office, hostel management software preferred).
