Job Description: Hostess / Host

The Hostess is responsible for creating a warm and welcoming first impression for every guest. This position manages the front door, seating flow, reservations, waitlist, and guest communication to help the restaurant run smoothly and provide excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Greet guests warmly as they enter the restaurant and thank them as they leave.

Manage reservations, walk-ins, and the waitlist in an organized and professional manner.

Seat guests according to server rotation, table availability, and restaurant flow.

Communicate accurate wait times to guests and keep them updated during busy periods.

Answer phone calls professionally and assist with reservations, general questions, and takeout inquiries when needed.

Keep the host stand, menus, and front entrance clean and organized.

Assist servers and managers by helping guests with basic requests.

Monitor dining room activity and communicate with servers, bussers, and managers to ensure smooth seating and service.

Handle guest concerns politely and notify the manager when needed.

Support the team during busy periods by helping with menus, to-go orders, cleaning tables, or other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Friendly, professional, and welcoming personality.

Strong communication and customer service skills.

Ability to stay calm and organized in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

Basic phone etiquette and ability to manage reservations or waitlist systems.

Reliable, punctual, and able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Previous restaurant or customer service experience is preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.

Ability to move quickly and safely through the restaurant.

Ability to lift or carry menus, small supplies, or light items as needed.

Job Summary

The Hostess plays an important role in the guest experience by making sure every guest feels welcomed, seated properly, and cared for from the moment they arrive. This position requires professionalism, teamwork, organization, and a positive attitude.

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
