Hotel Breakfast Server Downtown Houston

POSITION PURPOSE

A server takes orders, answers questions about the menu and serves food and beverage to patrons in the dining establishment.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

· Understands and abides by all safety protocols.

· Maintain positive guest relations at all times.

· Follow standards of service as established by brand/hotel in terms of guest interaction. These service standards could include: a) appropriate greeting of patrons b) present menus and answer any questions, including any daily specials. Be able to explain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods if necessary, c) taking food/beverage orders or enter orders into computers for transmittal to kitchen staff, d) prepare checks that itemize total meal and taxes and collect method of payment

· If needed, check patrons' identification to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages.

· Clean tables or counters after patrons have finished dining.

· Prepare hot, cold, and mixed drinks for patrons, and chill bottles of wine.

· Be able to begin and complete any side duties as needed: Roll silverware, set up food stations or set up dining areas to prepare for the next shift or for large parties, Stock service areas with supplies such as coffee, food, tableware, and linens.

· Prepare tables for meals, including setting up items such as linens, silverware, and glassware, remove dishes and glasses, Fill salt, pepper, sugar, cream, condiment, and napkin containers.

· Perform cleaning duties, such as sweeping and mopping floors, vacuuming carpet, tidying up server station, taking out trash, or checking and cleaning bathroom.

· Be able to assist host or hostess, if necessary, by answering phones to take reservations or to-go orders, and by greeting, seating, and thanking guests as well as escorting them to their tables.

· Describe and recommend wines to customers. Bring wine selections to tables with appropriate glasses, and pour the wines for customers.

· Other duties include completing food preparation duties if needed such as garnishing salads, appetizers or cold dishers. Also included are preparation of bread & butter plates, portioning desserts, and brewing coffee.

· Provide guests with information about local areas, including giving directions.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Education/Experience: Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Certificates & Licenses: Responsible Alcohol Beverage Service Certification required. Food Service Certification if applicable.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

Crestline adheres to all federal, state, and local specific contagion prevention regulations. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required while performing work duties as well as while in common hotel areas. PPE includes:

  • Gloves
  • Masks
  • Use of partitions (where appropriate)

· Must wear proper safety footwear – closed toe/closed heel; non-skid soles

Position will be trained in the proper use and care of assigned PPE. Generally, the hotel provides all required PPE. This position responsible for reporting defective, damaged, or lost PPE, or equipment that does not fit properly, to their manager. All employees will be trained on our contagion prevention procedures and must confirm receipt of learning.

NOTICE:

The hospitality business functions seven (7) days a week, twenty-four hours a day. In addition, due to the nature of the hotel business, a service-centric atmosphere must always be projected.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 per hour
