Job Role: House Manager

Job Location: South Kolkata

Position Overview:

The House Manager will be responsible for the smooth day-to-day management and upkeep of the Managing Director’s residence. This role requires a trustworthy, well-organized individual who can independently manage household operations, supervise domestic staff, and coordinate with external vendors and the housing complex management office.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Household Operations & Maintenance

  • Oversee daily operations of the MD’s residence ensuring cleanliness, orderliness, and functionality.
  • Maintain an updated list of service providers (electrician, plumber, carpenter, gardener, etc.) and ensure quick response for any maintenance needs.
  • Supervise any renovation, repair, or maintenance work; liaise with contractors and monitor work completion.
  • Ensure proper upkeep of electrical, plumbing, and other household systems.

2. Staff Supervision

  • Supervise and coordinate the work of domestic staff including the cook, cleaner, and any other household help.
  • Schedule and monitor their daily duties to maintain efficiency and discipline.
  • Manage attendance, leave, and performance of household staff.

3. Coordination & Communication

  • Liaise with the housing complex’s facility management/association for any service, maintenance, or compliance requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with vendors, delivery personnel, and other service providers.
  • Maintain cordial relationships with neighbors and society management for smooth coordination.

4. Inventory & Procurement

  • Maintain inventory of household items, groceries, cleaning materials, and other supplies.
  • Ensure timely replenishment and maintain records of purchases and expenses.
  • Handle petty cash and submit expense reports as required.

5. Other Responsibilities

  • Ensure proper upkeep of the kitchen, dining, and guest areas at all times.
  • Manage guest visits, coordinate hospitality arrangements, and support the MD’s family as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality, discretion, and a high standard of personal conduct at all times.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Graduate preferred; Diploma in Hospitality or Facility Management will be an advantage.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in managing a private household, hotel operations, or facility management.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to handle vendors, supervise staff, and manage budgets.
  • Must be reliable, discreet, and service-oriented.
