Summary
The Environmental Services (ES) position is a key member of the support team at Granny & Dot’s, responsible for ensuring the physical environment of the preschool is clean, safe, and inviting each day. This individual helps maintain high standards of cleanliness and order throughout the building while supporting teachers during classroom closing procedures. The ideal candidate takes pride in keeping shared spaces neat and beautiful, is dependable, and enjoys working behind the scenes to create a nurturing environment for young children and their families.
This is a Full Time 30-40 hours per week position that is Tuesday - Saturday.
Responsibilities
Daily Duties:
- Assist teachers in closing down classrooms at the end of each day (disinfecting, trash, sweeping/mopping, tidying).
- Complete daily cleaning tasks (bathrooms, kitchen areas, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, etc.).
- Stocks classrooms with consumables such as toilet paper, paper towels, cleaner etc.
- Perform and manage laundry duties (bedding, towels, soft toys, etc.).
- Keep the front entry and lobby clean, neat, and free of clutter.
- Maintain cleanliness in all shared/common spaces (staff room, hallways, supply closets).
- Puts away office supplies and other center supplies as needed.
- Carries support team walkie and assists in gathering supplies and bathroom breaks as needed.
Weekly & Special Tasks:
- Complete thorough Friday evening closing responsibilities, preparing the building for the weekend.
- Decorate and update the front entry with seasonal themes to reflect our playful and welcoming atmosphere including lobby and outside front of the center.
- Checks flower beds out front for weeds and remove them when needed.
- Ensure supply closets and janitorial areas remain organized and stocked.
- Repairs safety concerns promptly &/or reports any repair concerns that the ES is unable to do, based on inability or lack of skillset. The ES should not attempt any repairs that would be outside the realm of basic home repairs or any repairs that require a license.
- Deep cleans (shampoo) classroom rugs - one classroom per week (this includes the multi-purpose room).
- Provides a consumable inventory list to Assistant Director for supply replenishment.
Monthly/Quarterly Tasks.
- Assists quarterly in a center deep clean with teachers and other staff.
Requirements
- At least 18 years of age;
- Has satisfactory work experience;
- 1 year of Environmental Services experience preferred
- Must clear a full background check including fingerprints
- Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
- Infant Safe Sleep Training.
- Prior housekeeping, janitorial, or cleaning experience (childcare or school setting preferred).
- Knowledge of OK DHS approved cleaning and sanitization procedures.
- Must be organized, reliable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Friendly, flexible, and respectful when interacting with children, families, and staff.
Educational Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to see and or hear a child in distress up to 25 feet away.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs repeatedly during the course of each day.
- Must be able to sit on the floor with children and be able to get up quickly.
- Must be able to supervise and participate in outside/indoor play up to 3 times a day
- Must be able to push and/or pull up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods, and handle cleaning equipment and products safely.
- Has satisfactory work experience;
