Job Title: Housekeeping and Maintenance Supervisor

Reports To: Admin Manager / Facility Head

Position Summary:

The Housekeeping and Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring the overall cleanliness, upkeep, and maintenance of the office premises. The role involves supervising housekeeping staff and overseeing all maintenance work, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, civil and general repair tasks, to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Housekeeping Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily housekeeping activities across all office areas — workstations, cabins, meeting rooms, restrooms, pantry, and reception.
  • Ensure high standards of hygiene and cleanliness at all times.
  • Monitor housekeeping staff attendance, discipline, and performance.
  • Maintain stock of cleaning materials and ensure timely replenishment.
  • Coordinate with external vendors for deep cleaning, pest control, and other services.

Maintenance Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and carry out electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general maintenance work.
  • Inspect office premises regularly to identify maintenance issues and ensure timely repairs.
  • Maintain records of all maintenance activities and service requests.
  • Coordinate with external technicians and vendors for specialized repair works.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed for electrical fixtures, plumbing systems, and office furniture.
  • Respond promptly to emergency maintenance calls.

Civil Work Responsibilities

  • Structural Maintenance
  • Inspect and report cracks, seepage, or damage in walls, ceilings, and floors.
  • Coordinate repair of plastering, painting, and waterproofing.
  • Ensure timely maintenance of doors, windows, and partitions.

  • Masonry and Flooring
  • Oversee brickwork, tiling, and flooring repair/replacement as required.
  • Ensure pathways, driveways, and parking areas are well maintained.
  • Supervise minor civil construction and renovation work.
  • Plumbing & Drainage (related to civil)
  • Monitor repair of drainage lines, water leakages, and manholes.
  • Ensure proper functioning of rainwater harvesting pits and sewage systems.
  • Carpentry and Fixtures
  • Supervise repair and maintenance of wooden, aluminum, or glass fixtures.
  • Maintain doors, locks, handles, and furniture in usable condition.
  • Painting & Finishing
  • Plan and schedule painting, polishing, and touch-up works.
  • Maintain uniform aesthetic standards across all areas.
  • Campus / Building Infrastructure
  • Ensure boundary walls, pavements, and outdoor areas are maintained.
  • Oversee civil repair in toilets, labs, classrooms, or office spaces.
  • Supervise external vendors for renovation or expansion work.
  • Preventive Maintenance
  • Maintain a log of all civil repair and maintenance activities.
  • Conduct periodic inspections to identify future repair needs.

Team and Resource Management:

  • Assign and monitor duties of housekeeping and maintenance staff.
  • Train staff in safety practices, cleaning standards, and maintenance procedures.
  • Maintain stock of maintenance tools, consumables, and ensure proper usage.
  • Ensure cost-effective use of resources and adherence to safety norms.

Health, Safety, and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with workplace safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards.
  • Report any accidents, hazards, or unsafe conditions promptly.
  • Implement waste segregation and environmentally responsible disposal practices.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Graduate or Diploma in Facility Management / Technical Trades / Civil / Electrical / Mechanical.
  • 3–5 years of experience in housekeeping and maintenance supervision, preferably in a corporate or institutional setup.
  • Practical knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, civil, and repair work.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and leadership skills.
