Housekeeping Supervisor

The Art of Living Retreat Center is looking for an ambitious, well organized, self-motivated Supervisor of Housekeeping & Housing. The position calls for an individual who can perform cleaning duties in our hotel, retreat, and venue buildings while at the same time supervise a team of housekeepers and housemen. They will assign duties, inspect work, and investigate complaints regarding housekeeping & venue preparations and take corrective action when issues have been identified. The qualified candidate will assist with the daily operations of both our hospitality and venue facilities to ensure maximum efficiency, adequate inventory of supplies & equipment in quantity and quality. They will train new staff members and recommend dismissals. They must have proven experience as a housekeeper with team oversight, hands on experience in customer services, excellent organizational and leadership skills, problem solving aptitude, outstanding communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Solid understanding of sanitation regulations and team management abilities
  • Help ensure daily housekeeping operations run smoothly and in a manner that supports guest satisfaction
  • Daily oversight of housekeeping, housing staff & laundry staff
  • Daily inspections of rooms, common area, including stairways, and lounge areas – to confirm cleanliness
  • Respond to guests’ complaints and special requests
  • Plan and participate in large cleaning projects as required
  • Stocks and maintains inventory in all supply rooms, and provides list of needs to Leasing Office Manager
  • Train and motivate team members in all aspects of cleanliness, tidiness, and hygiene standards
  • Schedule shifts and arrange for replacements in cases of absence
  • Motivate team members to work cohesively and resolve issues that occur on the job
  • Meets with Housekeeping Manager as needed to provide progress reports and address issues
  • Stocks and maintains inventory in all supply rooms and provides list of needs to Leasing Office Manager

Position Summary: This position would report directly to the Housekeeping Manager. This is a supervisor level position that will include the proper and timely preparation of guest rooms & workshops throughout the Campus of the Art of Living Retreat Center.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Housekeeper, Hospitality Supervisor, or relevant role
  • Excellent customer service skills as well as a business mindset
  • Hands-on experience with cleaning and maintenance tasks for medium to large organization
  • Ability to use industrial cleaning equipment and products
  • Understands the principles behind providing excellent customer service to guests
  • Possess basic computer knowledge for the purposes of scheduling, recordkeeping and more
  • Excellent organization and team management skills
  • Can perform several tasks at the same time.
  • Stamina to handle the physical demands of the job
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends
  • Demonstrable aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving
  • Reliable with an ability to multi-task and work well under pressure

Benefits: Health and Dental Benefits after 90 days of successfully retained full-time employment, paid vacation, and 401K after 1 year of employment.

Job Type: Full-time including Weekends. Overtime may become necessary.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED combined with at least 3-5 years working in the hospitality industry.
