HR Generalist

Position Summary: We are seeking a proactive and resourceful HR Generalist with a strong focus on recruiting for construction roles. This position plays a critical role in attracting top talent, supporting HR operations, and ensuring compliance across a dynamic, multi-site workforce. The ideal candidate will have experience in both full-cycle recruitment and core HR functions, with a deep understanding of the construction industry.

Talent Acquisition

  • Manage full-cycle recruitment for construction roles, including laborers, foremen, superintendents, estimators, and project managers
  • Partner with hiring managers to forecast workforce needs and develop strategic sourcing plans
  • Source candidates through job boards, trade schools, unions, referrals, and social media
  • Conduct interviews, coordinate pre-employment screenings, and extend offers
  • Maintain a strong pipeline of qualified candidates for current and future projects

Industry Engagement

  • Represent the company at job fairs, apprenticeship expos, and industry events
  • Build relationships with vocational schools, veteran organizations, and local workforce development programs
  • Stay current on labor market trends, wage benchmarks, and regional talent availability

Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure recruiting practices align with labor laws, EEO standards, and safety regulations
  • Track recruitment metrics (time-to-fill, cost-per-hire, source effectiveness) and provide regular reports
  • Support onboarding and orientation in collaboration with HR and field operations

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience recruiting for construction-related roles (field and office)
  • Strong knowledge of HR policies, employment law, and compliance standards
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-site environment
  • Proficiency with applicant tracking systems (ATS) and HRIS platforms

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
  • 3+ years of HR experience, with at least 1 year in construction or skilled trades recruiting
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred
