The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for overseeing all daily HR operations including administration, compliance, employee relations, and benefits functions. This role ensures company policies and practices meet state and federal requirements while minimizing risk and supporting business goals.
Manage all HR administrative duties, including new hire onboarding, benefits maintenance, progressive discipline, employment verifications, and termination paperwork.
Oversee employee life cycle activities such as recruitment, hiring, development, and separations.
Track turnover and prepare HR-related reports and metrics.
Provide guidance on employee relations matters and ensure timely follow-up on disciplinary actions.
Conduct HR-related training sessions as directed.
Maintain and update the employee handbook annually.
Manage workers' compensation incidents, including directing employees to medical care and completing required documentation.
Explain company policies, benefits, and procedures to employees.
Respond to unemployment claims and maintain accurate records.
Manage the annual benefits open enrollment process and required reporting.
Maintain personnel files in compliance with recordkeeping standards.
Support corporate initiatives and HR projects as assigned.
Plan, complete, and implement assignments within deadlines.
Foster collaboration and build trust across the organization.
Stay current on HR laws, practices, and trends.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
EducationCertification:
Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field strongly preferred.
HR certification (PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP) preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of HR experience required.
KnowledgeSkills:
Strong understanding of employment laws and HR best practices.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and make independent decisions.
High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and diplomacy.
Talking: Must be able to convey detailed instructions or ideas clearly.
Hearing: Able to hear normal conversations and receive information.
Repetitive Motion: Regular use of wrists, hands, and fingers.
Vision: Average visual acuity to prepare or inspect documents.
Physical Strength: Mostly sedentary; may occasionally lift up to 10 lbs.
Travel: Must be willing to travel up to 10%, occasionally on short notice. Some after-hours work may be required.
