Pierson Computing Connection, Inc., a woman-owned technology services company, seeks a spring and summer 2026 Human Resources Intern who wants to benefit from strong mentorship during a real-world, hands-on HR experience.


Location
10 Long Lane, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050.


Summary/Objective
The Human Resources (HR) Intern will gain hands-on exposure to the HR career field, including recruiting, orientation/onboarding, benefits administration, HR information systems, HR communications, policy writing, special events and activities, and special projects. The HR Intern may be exposed to employee relations situations, but will not interact with them. The experience gained here will be similar to that of an HR generalist.


The selected candidate will receive $18 per hour.


The full-time start date is May 11, 2025. May start on a part-time basis in April 2026 (preferred).

Essential Functions

  • Recruiting: Post positions, download applications, complete resume audits, schedule interviews, set up interview guides, participate in interviews, and complete interview guide score sheets, calibrating scores.
  • HRIS: Enter and update data in Pierson’s HRIS.
  • Onboarding: Help with employee onboarding, such as I-9s, and new hire orientation, including presenting portions of the training/orientation
  • Seasonal offboarding: Process voluntary seasonal termination paperwork, review with terminating seasonal employees, collect company assets, and update HRIS and other systems.
  • Benefits: Reconcile benefit invoices and answer basic employee benefit questions.
  • HR communications: Draft employee communications and post approved communications on HRIS.
  • Policies: Research and draft new or updated policies.
  • Special events and activities: Help with planning and providing support to company events and Team Pierson Walk to End Alzheimer’s fundraising activities.
  • Special projects: Support HR special projects as needs arise with data gathering and input, research, and development.

Competencies

  • Proficient competency with general computer and Microsoft systems and applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Sharepoint.
  • Speaks and writes clearly and persuasively in all situations, and listens and seeks clarification.
  • Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Required Education and Experience
The following requirements are job-related and consistent with business necessity.

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Completed a minimum of 12 credits in an HR or a business management with HR-emphasis degree by the end of the semester in which the candidate is applying; will accept associate or bachelor-degree programs. Transcripts required if selected for onsite interview.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Class C (passenger vehicle) driver’s license.
  • Competencies as described.
  • Sign Human Resources Confidentiality Agreement on or before the first day.

Preferred Education and Experience
The following requirements are job-related and consistent with business necessity.

  • Able to work up to 16 hours per week in April 2026.

Additional Eligibility Requirements
Upon offer of employment, the selected candidate must pass a pre-employment drug test and Federal Criminal History, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record, and Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Certification background checks at Pierson’s expense to determine if the candidate has the clearances required to work in designated facilities.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a seasonal/temporary, hourly, overtime-eligible position. The work schedule is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., starting in May 2026 and ending in August 2026. Some overtime is possible with management approval. May work up to 16 hours per week in April 2026.


Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no supervisory responsibilities


Travel
Less than 5%. Travel in a company vehicle is primarily local during the business day, if needed, although some out-of-the-area travel may be possible. Travel in a personal vehicle will be reimbursed at the IRS mileage rate if a company vehicle is not available.

Reports To
This position reports to the Director of HR.
