HR Intern

Essential duties and Responsibilities:
  • Initiate contact with possible qualified candidates for specific job openings
  • Review applications and interview applicants to obtain work history, education, training, job skills, and salary requirements, and to provide information about the organization and position
  • Screen and refer candidates for additional interviews with others in organization
  • Utilizes Internet online recruiting sources to identify and recruit candidates
  • Makes public presentations at schools, organizations, and job fairs regarding the organization and opportunities
  • Works with external recruiters and employment agencies to identify and recruit candidates
  • Provides information on company facilities and job opportunities to potential applicants
  • Performs reference and background checks on applicants
  • Coordinates communications with applicants
  • Completes whole onboarding process when hiring candidates
  • Files and maintains employment records of new hires for future references
  • Provide administrative support and coordination to HR department
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Internship Learning Outcome:
  • Will be able to properly screen resumes
  • Will learn how to conduct phone and in-person interviews
  • Screen and refer candidates for additional interviews with others in organization
  • Will learn new systems and platforms related to HR
  • Will assist with Human Capital
  • Will assist with auditing
  • Will work with external recruiters and employment agencies to identify and recruit candidates
  • Will learn the importance of employment law and compliance, especially regarding employment eligibility, confidentiality, proper maintenance of employee files, and forms management.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • High School Diploma (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
  • Must be fluent in English and Spanish
  • High Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong verbal communication skills, in both individual and group settings. Active listening and ease in asking questions a must.
  • Comfortable in a collaborative and cooperative environment; willing to work independently and on teams
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to multitask
  • Demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness, and willingness to develop new skills and knowledge
  • Demonstrate Initiative to drive organizational processes
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality
  • This position requires an extremely perceptive person, who can relate to individuals at all levels.
  • The incumbent must be sensitive to personal demeanor and appearance, corporate needs, employee goodwill, and the public image.
