Who we are: Alcohol and Drug Awareness Council of Orange County, ADAC, is dedicated to addressing the public health issue of substance use disorder by providing support to those in need through prevention, information, referral, and recovery support services.

Location details: One position located in Middletown in the offices of ADAC.

Responsibilities: The HR / Payroll Specialist plays a key role in supporting our people, operations, and mission. This position helps ensure that our team members are supported from hiring to retirement — managing payroll and benefits, keeping records organized, and assisting with HR processes that make our workplace welcoming, fair, and compliant. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, trustworthy, and enjoys helping others.

Qualifications: A strong work ethic and desire to support Business Office operations. The ideal candidate possesses an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field—or equivalent professional experience. They bring 2–4 years of hands-on expertise in HR, payroll, or administrative support, along with proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office. A solid understanding of employment laws, payroll systems, and benefits administration is essential, paired with strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to confidentiality. Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities are key to success in this role. Experience in nonprofit environments and bilingual fluency are valuable assets that will enhance the candidate’s impact and versatility.
