HSE Engineer

Job Purpose

The HSE Engineer – Renewable Energy is responsible for ensuring safe working practices across renewable energy projects such as solar PV plants, wind farms, and energy storage systems. The role focuses on protecting people, equipment, and the environment while ensuring compliance with legal, client, and international HSE standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and enforce HSE policies and procedures for renewable energy projects (solar PV, wind, substations, BESS).
• Conduct site inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments related to electrical works, working at height, lifting operations, and confined spaces.
• Review and approve Method Statements, Risk Assessments (MSRA), Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and Permit to Work (PTW) systems.
• Ensure compliance with UAE HSE regulations, client requirements, and international standards such as ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
• Monitor HSE performance of subcontractors and ensure alignment with project safety standards.
• Lead accident, incident, and near-miss investigations; prepare reports and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Deliver HSE inductions, toolbox talks, and specialized training (LOTO, electrical safety, work at height, heat stress).
• Ensure proper use of PPE and electrical safety equipment across all project activities.
• Support environmental protection measures including waste management, spill control, and dust/noise monitoring.
• Assist in emergency preparedness, rescue drills (working at height), and fire response planning.
• Promote a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement in HSE performance.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Safety, or Environmental discipline.
• NEBOSH IGC or equivalent (mandatory).
• 3–6 years of HSE experience in renewable energy, power, EPC, or construction projects.
• Experience in solar PV installation, wind turbine erection, substations, or transmission lines is an advantage.

Technical Knowledge

• Electrical safety, Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO), HV/LV systems.
• Working at height, scaffolding, MEWP operations.
• Lifting operations and crane safety.
• Environmental management for renewable projects.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong site presence and hazard identification capability.
• Excellent communication, reporting, and coordination skills.
• Ability to manage multiple contractors on fast-track projects.
• Good knowledge of client HSE documentation and audits.

Work Conditions

• Site-based role with rotation between renewable project locations.
• Ability to work in outdoor and remote locations.

• Zero Lost Time Injuries (LTI).
• Compliance with client and regulatory HSE audits.
• Closure rate of corrective actions.
• Quality and frequency of safety training and toolbox talks.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED5,000.00 - AED6,000.00 per month
