HSE Officer - Automotive

Job Purpose

The HSE Officer is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and maintaining health, safety, and environmental standards within the automotive service center. The role ensures compliance with UAE regulations, company policies, and industry best practices to provide a safe working environment for employees, customers, contractors, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

Health & Safety Management

  • Implement and enforce HSE policies, procedures, and safety standards throughout the service center.
  • Conduct regular workplace inspections to identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Monitor compliance with safe work practices in workshop operations, vehicle maintenance, body shop, paint shop, EV servicing, and warehouse areas.
  • Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by all employees.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation measures for workshop activities.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, and prepare detailed reports.
  • Maintain accident and incident records and monitor corrective and preventive actions.

Environmental Management

  • Monitor proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials such as oils, lubricants, batteries, chemicals, paints, and solvents.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company environmental policies.
  • Promote waste reduction, recycling, and environmental sustainability initiatives.
  • Monitor spill prevention and response procedures.

Training & Awareness

  • Conduct HSE inductions for new employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Organize regular safety training sessions, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns.
  • Educate employees on emergency response procedures, fire safety, and safe working practices.
  • Ensure safety signage and communication materials are available and updated.

Emergency Preparedness

  • Coordinate emergency response plans and evacuation procedures.
  • Conduct fire drills and emergency exercises periodically.
  • Ensure firefighting equipment, first aid kits, eye wash stations, and emergency exits are regularly inspected and maintained.
  • Act as a member of the emergency response team when required.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements and company HSE standards.
  • Maintain HSE records, inspection reports, training records, permits, and statutory documents.
  • Assist during internal and external HSE audits and inspections.
  • Prepare periodic HSE performance reports and recommendations for management.

Automotive Workshop Safety

  • Monitor safe operation of vehicle lifts, hoists, compressors, welding equipment, and workshop machinery.
  • Ensure proper safety procedures for battery handling, EV vehicle servicing, and high-voltage systems.
  • Verify safe storage and handling of automotive spare parts, tools, and workshop equipment.
  • Monitor contractor safety activities within the premises.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • NEBOSH IGC, IOSH Managing Safely, or equivalent HSE certification preferred.
  • First Aid and Fire Safety certifications are advantageous.
