Human Resource Director

Kershaw Companies is a vertically integrated group of companies that grow, pack, market, and ship fresh apples, pears, cherries, and blueberries to customers worldwide. We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Director to lead and oversee all HR functions across our operations, inclusive of farms, packing warehouses and sales/marketing desk.

The ideal candidate has strong human resource skills, hands-on H-2A program management experience, strong regulatory knowledge, and experience working within the agricultural industry.

Responsibilities :

  • Supervise HR team members and field HR staff
  • Oversee payroll coordination, benefits administration, and workers’ compensation
  • Develop training programs for supervisors and managers
  • Partner with operations leadership to forecast seasonal labor needs
  • Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes
  • Manage employee relations, investigations, and disciplinary processes
  • Develop and execute HR strategy aligned with company goals
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership
  • Lead workforce planning and succession planning initiatives
  • Develop organizational structure and talent strategies
  • Establish HR metrics and analyze workforce data for decision-making
  • Ensure pay equity and market competitiveness
  • Manage benefits programs (health insurance, retirement plans, leave programs)
  • Collaborate with safety teams on OSHA compliance
  • Oversee workers’ compensation claims
  • Develop policies to ensure safe working environments

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of progressive HR leadership experience
  • Hands-on H-2A program management experience
  • Experience working in agriculture, farming, food production, or related industry
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required
  • Proven experience managing audits and regulatory compliance
  • Strong knowledge of DOL H-2A regulations and agricultural labor law
  • Self-motivated and proactive
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to overcome obstacles and meet deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Consistently operate with high ethics and integrity
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
