ASHE Society’s Human Resource Specialist is responsible for supporting the full employee lifecycle with a focus on talent acquisition, onboarding, employee relations, and training. This role partners with operations and managers to attract, hire, and retain top talent while ensuring a positive and compliant workplace culture. The HR Specialist will also facilitate onboarding programs, address workplace concerns, and coordinate training initiatives to enhance employee engagement and performance.
Roles & Responsibilities
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
- Partner with store managers to identify staffing needs and update job descriptions
- Post job openings on appropriate job boards
- Screen resumes, conduct initial phone interviews, and schedule candidate interviews
- Coordinate and sit in on open interviews with hiring managers
- Coordinate and conduct reference checks and create offer letters
Onboarding
- Prepare new hire paperwork and ensure all pre-employment requirements are met
- Conduct new hire orientations to introduce company culture, policies, and procedures
- Ensure a smooth transition for new employees into their roles
- Partner with managers to develop onboarding schedules for each position
Employee Relations
- Serve as a first point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns
- Support conflict resolution and workplace investigations in partnership with the HR Director
- Maintain a fair and respectful workplace while ensuring compliance with labor laws
- Assist in developing and maintaining employee engagement programs
Training & Development
- Coordinate and facilitate employee training programs
- Partner with managers to identify performance gaps and provide targeted training or coaching
- Track, monitor, and evaluate training program effectiveness; recommend improvements to increase engagement and knowledge retention
- Research and recommend new learning tools, resources, and technologies to enhance employee development
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- HR certifications (plus but not required)
- 2–3 years of professional HR experience in areas such as recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, and training and development
- Familiarity with HR best practices and understanding of employment laws (federal, state, and local) (cannabis compliance a big plus)
- Strong knowledge of employee lifecycle processes (recruitment, hiring, onboarding, retention, termination)
- Working knowledge of wage & hour laws, benefits administration basics, and compliance requirements
- Ability to handle employee relations issues with professionalism and discretion
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Knowledgeable and passionate about the Cannabis Industry (preferred)
