Riverbend Community Mental Health is a private, nonprofit organization in central New Hampshire that provides specialized behavioral health and addiction treatment services for children, adolescents, adults, and families.


We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Human Resources Administrative Assistant to join our dynamic HR team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to support our organization’s HR functions, ensuring smooth operations and a positive employee experience. The ideal candidate will be organized, communicative, and eager to contribute to a collaborative work environment.

Salary: $18.22 - $25.00 per hour, depending on experience

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm with a 1-hour lunch. 100% onsite

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for routine HR inquiries, providing accurate information to employees, applicants, and external partners. Maintain a professional and confidential approach to all communications.
  • Accurately update and maintain HR databases and employee records, including changes in employment status, compensation, and benefits. Ensure timely processing of paperwork for new hires, transfers, promotions, and terminations. Generate standard reports as requested by HR leadership.
  • Prepare welcome packets, schedule onboarding sessions, and ensure all necessary systems access and materials are in place.
  • Create, organize, and maintain personnel files and electronic records in accordance with company policies and federal/state recordkeeping requirements. Conduct regular audits to verify the accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality of all employee documentation.
  • Draft and prepare HR correspondence, including policy notifications, forms, and procedural documents. Ensure consistency in tone, format, and compliance with company standards.
  • Conduct research, compile data, and assist with special projects as needed to improve HR operations.
  • Prepare and route invoices for approval and processing, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
  • Schedule exit interviews and coordinate the collection of company property and system access removal for departing employees.
  • Monitor and respond to emails in the HR inbox, prioritizing urgent matters and escalating issues when appropriate.
  • Prepare and route for approval the quarterly State of NH loan repayment verification requests.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Executive Assistant and Executive Assistant to provide back-up coverage for administrative tasks and projects supporting the Senior Leadership Team. Assist in document preparation, scheduling, and event logistics as needed.
  • Provide general administrative and reception support, including greeting visitors, answering phone calls, managing meeting schedules, and maintaining office supplies. Assist in ensuring a welcoming and efficient front-office environment.
  • Stay current on federal, state, and local employment laws and best practices. Assist with updating and communicating HR policies to ensure compliance and consistency. Maintain confidentiality and ensure sensitive information is handled in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Develop and maintain professional, supportive relationships with employees and managers across departments. Provide timely assistance and guidance on HR-related matters while promoting a positive, inclusive, and respectful workplace culture.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned by the HR Director or other senior leaders to support organizational goals and ensure the smooth operation of HR and administrative functions.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent, additional HR certifications are a plus.
  • Proven experience as an HR Administrative Assistant or in a similar administrative role
  • High level of confidentiality, discretion, and professional judgment.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems, along with Microsoft Office or Google Suite.
