Position Description

The Seattle Police Department is seeking an organized and detail-oriented person to provide confidential support to the Human Resources Unit. This position will assist with processes related to paying retroactive payments, out of class requests, administrative tasks in Workday, assist with the management of personnel files and other HR or Payroll duties that are assigned. This position reports in-office daily to the Human Resources Operations Manager.


Job Responsibilities

  • Utilize and update highly confidential databases such as HRIS, leave administration and internal systems.
  • Provide customer service and direct inquiries (in person, written/mail, telephone calls).
  • Assist with processes related to retroactive payments.
  • Assist with processing out-of-class (OOC) requests.
  • Assist with processing administrative tasks in Workday.
  • Assist with preparation of Personnel Orders.
  • Prepare, send, and archive employee correspondence.
  • Review and reconcile pay period data.
  • Update and manage personnel records as needed.
  • Assist in gathering information to respond to public disclosure requests.
  • Order supplies as needed and keep copiers and printers stocked with paper.
  • Other HR/leave administration duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
Two years of progressively responsible clerical work in a personnel office setting is required (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class).

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience working with Human Resources Information Systems and databases; ability to create and generate reports with them.
  • Experience working with payroll records and/or HR records.

Position Requirements:
  • Must pass a Seattle Police Department background investigation.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s license.
  • Must perform work onsite. No remote work option is available for this position.

The full salary range for this position is $33.71 - $39.34 per hour.
New employees begin at Step 1 of the pay progression, which is $33.71 hourly. Current City employees’ starting rate of pay will be based on Personnel Rules regarding promotions. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) regular position with full benefits. This is a Civil Service position eligible for overtime.
