Human Resources Assistant

<Job Summary>
The Human Resources Assistant supports the daily operations of the Human Resources department at New River Ranch. This position reports directly to the Director of Finance/HR and assists with employee onboarding, training, personnel file management, background screening compliance, payroll support, benefits coordination, and maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information. The HR Assistant plays a key role in ensuring New River Ranch remains compliant with state and federal employment regulations while supporting the successful onboarding, training, and integration of new staff.

<Responsibilities>

  • Assist with job postings, applicant tracking, and interview scheduling
  • Coordinate pre-employment requirements including APS/CPS and WV CARES background checks, drug screens, and references
  • Coordinate and assist with onboarding for new hires including orientation and training
  • Schedule and coordinate required trainings for all staff
  • Maintain records of staff training completion and certifications
  • Maintain employee files in accordance with licensing and regulatory standards
  • Track background clearances, CPR/First Aid certifications, and required training hours
  • Ensure compliance with APS/CPS and WV CARES background screening requirements
  • Assist with audits and regulatory reviews
  • Assist with time tracking and verification
  • Support payroll processing and employee changes
  • Assist employees with benefit enrollment
  • Provide professional and courteous assistance to staff
  • Assist with disciplinary documentation and performance tracking
  • Support HR leadership with investigations and documentation
  • Perform other duties as assigned

<Requirements>

  • Education: Associate’s Degree preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience: 1–2 years of administrative or HR experience preferred. Experience in a healthcare, nonprofit, or residential setting preferred.
  • Knowledge & Skills: Strong organizational and documentation skills; excellent written and verbal communication; ability to handle confidential information with discretion; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other software.
  • Physical & Work Requirements
  • Must pass APS/CPS and WV CARES background screenings
  • Must pass drug screening
  • Must meet all applicable licensing requirements for employment in West Virginia

Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
