JOB SUMMARY:
The Business Partner, People Team, serves as a consultant to leaders on People-related issues. A successful Business Partner will act as a champion for both colleagues and leaders. The Business Partner will be a change agent that strengthens business results through collaboration, being considered a key thought partner with each of their respective internal customers. The Business Partner, People Team assesses and anticipates business needs, seeks to develop integrated solutions, and formulates partnerships across all functions to deliver value-added service to senior leadership and colleagues that reflect the business objectives of the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Trusted Advisor: 40%
  • Works closely with leaders to provide guidance and support organizationally, enhancing the people team strategy, workforce planning, employee retention, employee relations, management coaching, performance management, and change management.
  • Engages the people team centers of excellence (COEs) to leverage subject matter experts in compensation, talent acquisition, and talent management to achieve desired business objectives for internal business clients.
  • Assists in the preparation and delivery of people team initiatives, programs, and projects such as annual performance reviews, goal setting, succession planning, engagement surveys, and merit planning.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, including but not limited to FLSA, NLRB, FMLA, ADA, FCRA, Form I-9, wage and hour issues, employee harassment training, sick leave, etc.
Relationship Management: 30%
  • Advises, coaches, and counsels managers and colleagues on employee relations issues to promote positive relationships between managers and colleagues (minimizing legal risk and supporting company values).
  • Collaborates closely with the CRC (Colleague Resource Center) to assist colleagues and leaders with issue resolution, including FMLA, ADA, corrective action, and policy interpretation.
  • Provides proactive coaching and leadership guidance to leaders and managers to mitigate risk and ensure compliance with legislation and company policies.
  • Investigates employee grievances and complaints. Conducts an analysis and takes appropriate action as needed.
  • Develops, implements, reinforces, interprets, and modifies people team policies, programs, and procedures.
People Analytics: 20%
  • Develops routines around talent management reporting (such as corrective action), providing leadership and key stakeholders with insights to drive business results; analytics should inform strategic plans for future initiatives.
  • Proactively analyzes data to identify trends and make recommendations to functional leaders while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Strong understanding of day-to-day operations for their supported functions and the people associated with the work that is getting done.
  • Leverages reports and internal knowledge to support strategic changes to organizational structures that provide clarity to roles and potential efficiency and cost savings.
  • Reviews people team reporting (such as turnover & new hire/exit surveys) and other operational KPIs and makes recommendations for positive interventions where needed.
Care for Team: 10%
  • May lead one or several HR Generalists, overseeing the allocation of work and performance against goals. Provides feedback, coaching, and mentoring, drives employee development, and performs additional people management activities.
  • Recruit and train staff to meet company growth demands, with a focus on building a high performing, collaborative, cross-functionally matrixed team.
  • Foster team accountability and ensure team readiness for optimal performance.
  • Provide timely and actionable feedback regarding team performance, encouraging performance improvement and developing bench strength for effective succession planning.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in a related field
  • A minimum of 2-5 years of relevant experience in a medium-to-large-sized Corporation and/or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or work experience.
  • Human Resources (HR) certification such as PHR/SHRM-CP preferred.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • This position will be performed in the colleague's home. Work-from-home requirements include the colleague's ability to set up computer equipment within their home office. Occasional in-person team meetings may be required depending on the position.
  • This job is primarily sedentary and may involve repetitive motions; the colleague must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time, operate a computer and other office equipment, assess information and files stored electronically, and converse/exchange accurate information with others, simultaneously.
  • The colleague must be able to discern text displayed on a monitor, input data into specific fields using a keyboard, and adjust focus to distances of up to three feet.
  • The colleague must have the ability to learn new tasks, follow established processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, complete multiple tasks simultaneously, communicate professionally with colleagues and customers, and complete tasks in situations that require speed or productivity.
  • The colleague must be able to manage moderate to significant mental stress because of, but not limited to, a dynamic and heavy workload.
