Responsibilities:

Assists in administering benefits, compensation, recruitment and employee performance programs.

Collaborate with departmental managers to assess employment needs, and participate in recruiting efforts to identify, interview, hire and train qualified candidates.

Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions.

Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
-
Administers new employee on-boarding and orientation.
-
Coordinates new hire process for managing staff including orientation and new hire paperwork.

Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.

Assists Managers/Supervisors with employee inquiries, performance review process, coaching, counseling, and terminations and escalates to Human Resources Director, as needed.

Assists with maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices.

Ensures HRIS is being maintained and used accordingly.

Administers leave of absences including FMLA, short-term disability, long-term and other company LOAs.

Assists with Benefits Open Enrollment, monthly new hire benefit enrollments, changes, and training for employee benefits and wellness programs.

Records data of employee transfers as well as changes affecting net wages, such as exemptions, and insurance coverage, for each employee for update keeping of employee payroll records.

Reports, maintains, and monitors all Workers' Compensation claims and OSHA logs; follows-up on open cases. Pulls quarterly reports and OHSA data as needed.

Maintains and coordinates employee recognition programs.

Follows all company policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Suggest new procedures and policies to continually improve the efficiency of the HR department and organization as a whole and to improve the employees’ experience.

Operates ethically to protect the assets and image of the company.

Performs other duties and responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications:
-
High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.

4+ years of Human Resources experience at an HR Generalist level or higher and in the healthcare industry or similar setting.

Professional HR certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred.

Proven experience in all areas of HR, including recruitment, benefits, employee relations, leave management, and timekeeping/payroll.

Strong understanding of employment law and regulations.

Must possess excellent oral, written, interpersonal, presentation and listening skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Sharepoint and PowerPoint); HR management systems and software applications (e.g., UKG Ready, ADP, Workday, other HRIS systems, ATS).

Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including leadership, employees, and vendors and foster a positive work environment.

Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Ability to perform the essential job functions consistently, safely, and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 10lbs.; Ability to stand for prolong periods of time and climb steps regularly. Ability to physically maneuver through work areas; bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms, and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment.
