Position Summary
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for supporting both the operational and strategic functions of the HR department at Children’s Heart Center. This role combines hands-on administrative execution with higher-level HR support, including employee relations, recruitment, compliance, and manager guidance.
The HR Generalist serves as a key partner to the HR Director, ensuring efficient day-to-day HR operations while also contributing to a positive employee experience and organizational effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the HR Director to support recruitment activities, including job postings, candidate communication, and interview coordination, with opportunity to grow into broader recruiting responsibilities over time
- Assist with onboarding processes including new hire documentation, orientation coordination, and HRIS setup (ADP), gaining exposure and experience with the goal of assuming increased ownership as the role develops
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records within HRIS (ADP Workforce Now)
- Assist with weekly processing of payroll
- Process employee lifecycle changes including hires, terminations, transfers, and compensation updates
- Track and administer PTO, attendance, and leave requests
- Serve as a point of contact for employee questions and provide timely, professional support
- Support managers with routine employee relations matters, including coaching, performance concerns, and documentation
- Assist with investigations and escalate complex or high-risk issues to the HR Director
- Support performance management processes, including documentation and follow-up Administer employee benefits, including enrollments, changes, and employee inquiries Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as healthcare-specific requirements (including HIPAA-related documentation)
- Maintain compliance records including I-9s, policy acknowledgements, and required trainings
- Assist with audits and ensure proper documentation practices
- Prepare HR-related documentation including offer letters, employment verifications, and internal communications
- Support implementation and communication of HR policies and procedures
- Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, workflows, and employee experience
- Participate in continuous learning of HR processes and workflows to support long-term growth within the HR function
- Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
- 3+ years of progressive HR experience
- Experience with HRIS systems (ADP Workforce Now strongly preferred)
- HR Certification (SHRM-CP or PHR) Preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
Reporting Structure
- Reports directly to the HR Director
- Works closely with department managers and leadership team

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year

Experience:
- Human resources management: 3 years (Required)
