Human Resources Generalist

Job Summary:
The Human Resources Generalist will work in collaboration with the Human Resources Business Partners and in partnership with the operational leadership team(s) to successfully support all human resources related functions in their assigned Vista Care locations.

The Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for the daily functions of the HR department, including but not limited to: enforcing company policies and procedures, providing employee relations and engagement support, assisting with benefits administration and related employee questions, worker’s compensation, OSHA reporting and compliance, maintaining employee records and other activities as assigned. The HR Generalist role is responsible for delivering value-added service that reflects Vista Care’s mission, vision, and values.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Supporting Functions

  • Pulls reports from the HRIS or other systems and provides the relevant data to the HR team for analysis and follow-up with the appropriate operational unit. Data may include but is not limited to separations, turnover/retention, engagement, etc.

  • Answers corporate HR phone line and responds to employee questions and concerns in a timely manner.

  • Assists onsite with addressing both access doors in the corporate building; reviews who is visiting and opens the door and accompanies the visitor to the appropriate party; ensures the safety and security of all employees by validating who the visitor is prior to permitting access.

  • Provide excellent customer service to employees who reach out to Human Resources for assistance or stop by the HR office for assistance in line with department expectations and company values.

  • Partner with operational leaders on the investigation, and resolution of worker's compensation claims, ensuring compliance with regulations and providing support to injured employees throughout the process.

  • Administer and manage employee leave requests in partnership with the third party leave administrator, ensuring compliance with FMLA, ADA, and company policies.

  • Actively maintains company organization charts and records.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Employee Relations & Discipline

  • Completes employee relations investigations as assigned. Ensures due diligence is completed and all investigations are thorough and objective; provides recommendations to the Human Resources Business Partner based on the findings of the investigation.

  • Advises employees and managers on employee relations issues in partnership with HRBPs. Provides recommendations on the type of disciplinary actions that will be imposed on certain offenses based on company policies and procedures.

  • Assists with drafting routine disciplinary action documents, performance improvement plans, and other documents as assigned.

  • Attends ANE debriefs and/or exit meetings and provides recommendation(s) to Human Resources Business Partner based on the findings of the investigation.

Policy Cascade and Compliance

  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation to employees and operational leaders.

  • Modifies existing and creates new policies/addendums as needed under the direction of the HRBPs and/or the Chief People Officer.

  • Takes a proactive role in monitoring changes to employment laws and regulations and maintains an in-depth knowledge of all federal, state and local laws in the jurisdictions that Vista Care operates within.

  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

Employee Engagement and Retention

  • Participate, engage, and lead company initiatives to improve employee engagement and organizational culture.

  • Actively participates in the Company’s Culture Committee.

  • Partners with the learning development and engagement team to design, develop, and implement comprehensive training programs that enhance employee skills, performance, and career growth.

  • Plays an active role in the dissemination and facilitation of employee training and engagement programs.

  • Actively participates in employee onboarding and orientation activities.

  • Assists in the tracking and compliance of employee learning and development activities in partnership with the learning team.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.


  • Clear background check in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and Vista Care’s best practices.

  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn Vista Care’s HRIS and talent management systems.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED Required.


  • A college, or university degree or the equivalent is preferred. Degree in Human Resources, Human Services, or a similar field preferred.

  • One (1) to three (3) years of human resource or similar field experience is preferred.

  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer/laptop.

  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

  • May be required to travel to assigned locations of support.
