Functional Reporting: Parent Company Director of Human Resources

Salary Range: $70,000 – $90,000 (based on experience)

Lead Human Resources for a Manufacturing Facility

We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist to serve as the on-site HR leader for our manufacturing facility in Otterbein, Indiana, supporting approximately 90 employees.

This role is ideal for an HR professional who enjoys being hands-on with employees and leadership and who owns the full scope of HR responsibilities. You will work closely with the Plant General Manager and supervisors, and partner with the Parent Company Director of Human Resources to align plant operations with corporate HR strategy and compliance.

This position offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on hiring, employee engagement, culture, and workforce development at the plant level.

What You’ll Do

HR Leadership

  • Serve as the primary HR partner for plant leadership and employees
  • Provide guidance to supervisors on HR policies, employee relations, and performance management
  • Implement corporate HR programs and policies at the plant level

Recruiting & Workforce Planning

  • Lead full-cycle recruiting for hourly and salaried plant roles
  • Coordinate job postings, candidate screening, interviews, and hiring processes
  • Work with supervisors to maintain appropriate staffing levels

Employee Relations

  • Address employee concerns and promote positive workplace culture
  • Conduct workplace investigations and resolve conflicts
  • Support disciplinary actions and performance improvement plans

Compliance & HR Operations

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Maintain HR records, employee documentation, and reporting
  • Manage workers’ compensation claims and return-to-work programs
  • Support plant safety initiatives in partnership with leadership

Benefits & Payroll Coordination

  • Administer employee benefits including enrollment and employee support
  • Coordinate open enrollment and benefits communications
  • Assist with payroll by reviewing timekeeping and resolving discrepancies
  • Track employee leave including FMLA and other absence programs

Training & Development

  • Coordinate onboarding and orientation for new employees
  • Support safety and compliance training programs
  • Assist supervisors with employee development initiatives

What We’re Looking For

Experience

  • 5–7 years of Human Resources experience required
  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or production environments strongly preferred
  • Experience working as a stand-alone HR professional or in a small HR team preferred

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred

Certifications (Preferred)

  • SHRM-CP / SHRM-SCP
  • PHR / SPHR
